Summary

The primary focus of the estimator is to scope, sell and estimate a complete repair estimate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Contact leads/referrals within 30 minutes of receiving them
  • Be on site within 2 hours if it is an emergency, or inspect loss site within 24 hours for non- emergencies
  • Maintain constant communication with property owner
  • Prepare an accurate scope by reviewing property damage and utilizing best practices in the industry
  • Prepare estimate using Xactimate in required timeframe
  • Secure approved scope and price with insurer and/or customer.
  • Explain services, scope, estimate and time of completion to the property owner to secure contractual work authorization
  • Interface with Project Manager regarding project progress and completion

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Document and deliver estimate, permits and other documents to property owner in a timely manner and secure contract
  • Document and deliver necessary paperwork timely to administrative department
  • Assist in Collection if needed
  • Assist Project Managers as needed on job site

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, Outlook, Internet Explorer) Word Processing software. Microsoft Project. Specialty Software: PSA, Xactimate Estimating Software
